Experience

Technically speaking, eggsites works in a number of different ways depending on the job, the client and the project requirements. However, for most clients we can categorize their work into one of a few development methodologies:

Tier One Site
Tier One clients are no more important than our smaller clients, but typically they have more to gain—and more to lose—from their site. These are typically larger businesses with strict business requirements and bigger budgets. Tier One sites are built using hand-coded XHTML, CSS, PHP and are coded to be flexible, modern and unique with easily updatable elements, collaborative design and often many customized design features like logos, digital photographs and personalized web applications to handle special business functions.
Tier Two Site
The only difference between a Tier One and a Tier Two site is that Tier Two sites are usually done with speed in mind rather than perfection of code and design. Of course this doesn't mean Tier Two sites are sloppy or unprofessional, but we may use a design tool (sometimes called “What You See Is What You Get” or WYSIWYG) to expedite the process which results in less hands-on coding and fewer personalized or closely customized elements. Generally Tier Two sites do not contain customized Web applications nor are Tier Two clients under as much pressure to deliver a high-traffic capable page and they may be able to specify that certain Web standards be deviated from where Tier One sites often do not have such luxuries.
Brochure Site
Sites that contain elements which are either lifted from or directly transferrable to print materials (such as company brochures) are referred to as Brochure Sites. These sites may be (but are not always) Tier Two sites and do not contain special data-driven applications or custom forms of any kind. Interaction on Brochure Sites is usually limited to a handful of links.

It isn't necessary that you know which type of site you want before you fill out our Client Questionnaire or come in for a consultation, but you may have a better idea of where you want to begin. We're happy to answer any other questions you might have and when you're ready to get started on the site you've always dreamed of, get in touch with us to schedule an appointment.
