Methods

You have a right to know what to expect from a relationship with eggsites up front. Our tested and proven methodology is designed to optimize your valuable time as well as keeping you involved in the process to avoid costly delays.

Architecture

Consultation – Building the Relationship

Before we begin we take the time to get to know you, your situation and the expectations you have. Using our Client Questionnaire we already have an idea of what you want, but as we proceed with the discussion we get to know you and the kinds of design decisions that are going to make you pleased with the end result. We'll set specific site goals and discuss the requirements you have for your site whether they be technical, aesthetic or just general personal preference. We'd never want to build a site with lots of yellow in it for someone who loves the color green!

Collaboration – Establishing Goals and Guidelines

Once we've gotten to know you, we make sure to get on the same page as you by determining what type of site you want and what type of site you need. This is where you get to know us and we introduce you to the specific challenges of designing, building and maintaining a website. There is a wide array of possible approaches to creating a site, and our experience has enabled us to communicate the inevitable difficulties or cost-saving techniques we could employ to bring your vision to life. By conversing honestly with you about the process we can ensure that we're clear as to what you expect and you're clear as to what our game plan is going to be.

Mockups – Professional Design Without the Commitment

With a good idea of what you're looking for, we provide you with a series of images based on our design team's research and conversations with you which gives us some rough ideas of where to go. Since graphic design is a visual medium, it can only really be pushed forward from the planning stages by looking at what your options are. We've done this enough to know that our first instincts aren't always right and we offer at least two options which show different stylistic choices and directions. You're free to pick and choose elements from one mockup and other bits from another: Select a font style from option number one, a color scheme from option number two and a general layout from the third mockup. When you've provided specific feedback on the visual examples, we'll provide you with a final proof before we begin the time and labor intensive coding so you know what you're going to get without unpleasant surprises or costly rebuilding.

Under Development

Construction – Building Site and Structure

The work-in-progress phase can be either quick and easy or long and challenging. Each site is different and meets different needs. This is where the time we put in to get to know you and determine what you're looking for pays off. This is the part where we put our heads down and get to work, transforming the mockup you approved from a simple image into a fully functioning site with code, style and professional design.

You can be as involved as you like in this process, receiving regular build updates and observing the site as it unfolds or you can wait until you can navigate your shiny new site more fully before offering your advice and suggestions. Since eggsites builds sites with an eye toward maintainability, we don't drag our feet when it comes to minor design changes or content adjustment, we understand that this site is you on the Web and we couldn't want you to give anyone a bad impression and we certainly don't want you to be less than thrilled with the end result.

Approval – Final Checking

No matter how closely you watched the development process, we always like for you to browse through the completed site and give us your final thoughts and impressions. No website is ever “done” as the ease of editing or changing a site makes them constantly evolving works in progress, but this version is what will be your first online content, a first impression of sorts. You want it to be great, and so do we. We encourage you at this point to show your site to some friends or co-workers, get some feedback from fresh eyes and give us your last minute changes. When you're satisfied that your site is ready to be launched, give us the final nod of approval and breathe a sigh of relief: The hard part is done!

Every Journey

Roll Out – Launching the Site

Using the address name (your-name.com) you've selected and our state of the art servers located in Southern California and monitored 24 hours per day, we'll set up your site for the whole world to see. A number of factors determine how long this process takes, but usually you'll be up in less than 36 hours and ready to start spreading the word about your website. We recommend that you use your site's address (or URL) on your letterhead, business cards, email signatures and all other publications to make sure your clients and customers know you have a presence on the World Wide Web.

Maintenance

A site owner's work is never done. Unlike print media where altering content on a whim is prohibitively expensive, Web content can be changed virtually any time. Update your page to reflect a current promotion or news item; change your logo to reflect the season, there is no limit to the kinds of creative ways you can keep your site content fresh even for returning visitors. We're always happy to assist you with developing update ideas and making changes for you at a reasonable cost if you wish. Our relationship with you doesn't end when your site is posted, we'll work with you into the future to make sure your site stays current and your satisfaction remains complete. And if you ever grow tired of your site (hey, it happens to all of us) we're happy to help with our excellent redesign service.
